First trip to Ohio
Sorry it has been so long since our last post. Annabelle and I started back to work 2 weeks ago and the downtime has been limited ever since. We took our first trip to Ohio as a family (minus Mills) just before we returned to work. Denver's great college friend, Steve, got married and we were so excited to get to celebrate with the happy couple. The drive to Ohio wasn't all that fun as Annabelle was a bit more fussy than we expected. We suspect this is because I made the mistake to sit in the back seat with her and she wasn't too thrilled with the fact that I was not picking her up. On the drive home I sat up front and she was fine. Nonetheless, a 5 1/2 hour trip quickly becomes 6 plus hours with the stops for feeding and diaper changes. It was still fun to see lots of family and friends in Ohio. Annabelle got to see her Uncle Judd and his girlfriend Kate who were in town from Chicago. She also got to spend 2 nights at her Nanna's house and meet some of her friends, Debby, Bonita and Nita. Friday night we stayed at Grandpa Bob and Grandma Debby's house. Then on Saturday we got to visit with Mom's good friends Auntie Steph and Auntie Phipps. I'm sure we'll be back to Ohio sometime soon. I know her Dad will be very anxious to take her on her first trip to "The Shoe"! Unfortunately I don't have many pics from the Ohio trip but I have lots from our first weeks at work that I'll be posting soon.

Two Months
Sunday Annabelle celebrated her 2 month birthday. She has really started to become so much more social in the last months. We are rewarded many times a day with smiles and laughs and she is finding her voice and trying to "talk" to us as well. She is becoming a really good sleeper as well and we're pretty confident that as soon as her metabolism catches up she'll be sleeping all the way through the night. We're still getting up at 2 and sometimes 5 right now so Mom and Dad can't wait for that milestone. We had our 2 month checkup today with Dr. Isbell and all looks great. She weighs 10 pounds 11 ounces and is 23 inches long. Still pretty long and lean. Her height is in the 50th percentile and her weight is in the 25th. The weight is up from the 10th percentile at the last appointment and Dr. Isbell thought this was a perfect improvement as they don't like to see too much of a jump. She had to endure her first round of vaccinations which included 3 shots and an oral medication. She really did so much better than we expected. The rest of the day she has been tired and a bit cranky but that is to be expected. Here are some pictures from the 2 month photo shoot we did at home yesterday.
More summer fun
I got sick on Thursday and was really sick on Friday. Mastitis, stomach pain, etc. It was not fun. Friday, Denver and I packed up Annabelle and headed to Lebanon where my Nanny, aunt and Mom were on hand to nurse me back to health. Actually they really just wanted to get their hands on Annabelle but at least that allowed me and Denver to get some much needed rest. Friday night, Denver and I both slept better than we had in about 6 months. Here are some pictures from the fun weekend Annabelle had.

It's Independence Day
We have had a really fun first Fourth of July as a family. The original plan was to participate in the neighborhood parade by decorating Annabelle's stroller. Unfortunately, she woke up very fussy and we couldn't make it. Instead we decided to take a quick trip to the dog park and then head over to the Farmers Market/Bicentennial Mall for a picnic. Here are some pictures of our day:
Dress rehearsal for the parade. Please note that I did not purchase this tiara for my child and she is only wearing it for holiday photo purposes. You will not be seeing my daughter on any episode of "Toddlers & Tiaras"....
So happy to be stretching out on our picnic blanket. She seems to love being outside.
Annabelle and Mom in our picnic spot. We had a beautiful view of the capitol building downtown. That park is one of the most underutilized spaces in Nashville.

Cracker Barrel Rocker
Annabelle got a gift from her Mims and Big Daddy last weekend of her very own rocking chair from Cracker Barrel. Now she can join Mom and Dad on the front porch for some rocking sessions. Here are some pics of her trying out the new rocker with some help from her Dad.

Smiles
Annabelle has been rewarding us with lots of sweet smiles lately. She just smiles and laughs all the time. Here is some evidence.
After suffering through her "witching hour" phase, we are so relieved that it seems like we have a very happy, easy going baby. We look forward to posting lots more pictures of that beautiful smile.
